Monrovia Football Drops to Third in CIF Rankings

The Wildcats lost the top spot after their loss to Arcadia.

Monrovia's football team dropped to third in the Mid-Valley poll following its 30-22 loss to Arcadia.

Maranatha of Pasadena takes over the top spot, followed by Arroyo of El Monte.

In the Southeast Division, Arcadia has moved up to third after its win over Monrovia. is ranked sixth. Crescenta Valley did not make the top 10, but did receive some votes.

, which defeated Crescenta Valley 35-0, is ranked fifth in the Western Division.

The boys’ cross country team maintained the top spot in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 rankings released Monday by the CIF Southern Section.

The Apaches are the defending Division 1 state champion and are very deep even though last season’s top runner Ammar Moussa has graduated.

maintains the top spot in the Division 2 girls’ tennis poll. The Titans will face Dana Hills, ranked No. 2 in Division 1 at home on Wednesday in what figures to be its biggest test yet.

In cross country, boys’ team is ranked seventh in division three and its girls’ team is ranked 10th in the same division.

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy is ranked fourth in Division 4.

Flintridge Prep is ranked fourth in the Division 5 boys’ poll and fifth in the Division 5 girls’ poll.

Also in girls’ tennis, Arcadia is ranked fourth in Division 2.

In boys’ water polo, La Canada is ranked fourth Division 3. In Division 5, Crescenta Valley is tied for 10th in the rankings with Pacific League rival Hoover. Flintridge Prep did not crack the top 10, but did receive some votes.

In girls’ volleyball, La Canada is ranked sixth in the Division 2-AA and La Salle is ranked seventh in the same division.

Arcadia is ranked 10th in the 2-A and Alverno of Sierra Madre is ranked fifth in the 4-A.
