Monrovia Man Sentenced for Involvement in Motorcyle Theft Ring

The charges stemmed from a three-month investigation by the Task Force for Regional Auto Theft Prevention.

Three men who were charged earlier this year in connection with an investigation into an alleged motorcycle theft ring were sentenced to state prison, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced Friday.

Felipe Galicia, 40, of Monrovia, and Daniel Hernandez, 22, of El Monte, pleaded no contest late Thursday to one count each of unlawful vehicle identification number activity and receiving stolen property, according to Deputy District Attorney Alex Karkanen.

Superior Court Judge Carlos Uranga sentenced Galicia to six years in state prison and Hernandez to four years behind bars.

Victor Manuel Coca, 45, of Los Angeles, pleaded no contest to chop shop operation and receiving stolen property. He was sentenced to five years in state prison.

All three men are due back in court May 6 for a restitution hearing.

A fourth defendant, Dean Richard Campa, 43, of Glendale, pleaded no contest to two counts of receiving stolen property and is facing three years in state prison, with sentencing set May 6, according to the District Attorney's Office.

Five other people are charged with receiving stolen property.

The charges stemmed from a three-month investigation by the Task Force for Regional Auto Theft Prevention, which includes representatives from a number of agencies, including the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Los Angeles Police Department and California Highway Patrol.
