Monrovia Police Department Names New Police Chief

The new chief began his career in the department when he was hired as a recruit in 1995.

MONROVIA, CA – Monrovia Police Department Capt. Alan Sanvictores was named the city's new police chief Tuesday. Sanvictores began his career in the department when he was hired as a recruit in 1995, and will succeed Chief James Hunt, who is retiring on Nov. 2, according to Monrovia City Manager Oliver Chi.

The U.S. Army veteran has risen through the department ranks, serving as officer, agent, detective, sergeant and lieutenant before being promoted to captain in 2010, Chi said. Sanvictores received a bachelor's degree from Cal Poly Pomona and a master's degree from Cal State San Bernardino. He and his wife Lisa have two daughters, according to Chi.

Sanvictores will be sworn in before the City Council meeting on Nov. 7.
