MONROVIA, CA — A documentary exploring the history of Route 66 in Monrovia is now available to watch on YouTube following its premiere earlier this month, the city said.
The 50-minute film, titled "Monrovia's Route 66," was produced by the Monrovia Historical Society and Community Media of the Foothills. It uses historical photographs and motion-picture footage to chronicle the highway's arrival in 1926 and the roadside businesses that developed along the route, the city announced on Friday.
The documentary highlights several local landmarks, including the Aztec Hotel, the McDonald brothers' first food stands and the Monrovia Flying Field.
