Monrovia's Aerovironment Awarded $8.3 Million Army Contract to Supply Spy Drones
The local technology company will provide more of its unmanned Raven aircraft to the U.S. Army, according to the company.
Monrovia based technology company has been awarded another contract to provide spy drones to the U.S. Army, the company announced Tuesday.
The contract, valued at about $8.3 million, is part of an to produce the Raven aircraft, a lightweight, hand-launched drone equipped with cameras that can be carried by backpack by soldiers in war zones.
The deal announced Tuesday brings the Army closer to its intended procurement of 2,358 Raven systems, according to a news release issued by Aerovironment. Each system includes three planes, two ground control stations and spare parts.
