Dear Monrovia Unified Community,We miss you all. It has been over a month since we began distance learning and though we have heard of its success, it does not compare to having our students at school every day.I am thankful for your continued engagement, support, and flexibility. We have been busy recreating our educational system in the virtual world, and your patience through all of it has been appreciated.

In April, our Educational Services team rolled out our Instructional Services Newsletter, which is delivered to our families on a weekly basis. The newsletter is equipped with wonderful information and resources to help guide you through distance learning. Click HERE to view the latest newsletter.Our administrators, teachers, and staff decided to treat our students to a surprise this month with their participation in the Cruisin’ thru Monrovia parade. Following the boundaries of our five elementary schools, our MUSD staff waved as families held posters with messages of hope while safely practicing social distancing. It was a beautiful experience and a perfect example of Monrovia Unified’s tightknit community.Our seniors were also celebrated this month when our Monrovia Unified family came together to distribute Class of 2020 yard signs. Thank you to everyone who participated and ensured the success of the distribution.As we move forward with distance learning, I encourage you all to continue visiting the District’s Distance Learning Platform for more information and resources. Our District’s instructional specialists are now offering parent/guardian office hours four times a week. Click HERE to fill out a submission form to attend the meetings. Should you have any questions about the distance learning process, please reach out to your child’s teacher.Though the news regarding distance learning has taken precedence this month, our schools continue to get noticed for their dedication and commitment to helping every student achieve at a high level.Clifton Middle School was recently recognized as a 2020 School to Watch for its academic excellence and responsiveness to the needs of students. Additionally, Monrovia High School was ranked in the top 13 percent of schools in the nation by U.S. News and World Report for its student achievement and college and career readiness programs.These recognitions help bring light to the wonderful students, teachers, and staff we have here at Monrovia Unified. I am proud of each and every one of them.We will continue providing updated information on our website and social media platforms. #2020Census DigitalAction Weekend: May 1-3

It is not too late to respond to the #2020Census. Ensuring that students have the tools they need to be successful is a priority at Monrovia Unified School District. Making sure they are counted in the Census will help the District ensure that success. Filling out the Census is safe, secure, and confidential. Individuals will have until August 14 to complete the Census questionnaire. For more information, visit www.2020census.gov.

Send in Videos to Share During Virtual Monrovia Days 2020 Celebration



Every year, the Monrovia Unified School District community participates in celebrating Monrovia’s birthday. Whether it’s in the parade or performances throughout the day, our students, teachers, and staff all look forward to Monrovia Days. Given the current orders regarding COVID-19, Monrovia Days will be celebrated in a different manner this year. A virtual experience has been planned that will still allow us all to wish Monrovia a happy birthday, from the safety of our homes.A commemorative video with birthday wishes from the community will be aired during a special Facebook Watch Party on May 16, 2020. You can participate by sending a short video with Happy Birthday Monrovia wishes from you and your family. Last year’s parade will be shown at 10 a.m. with a dignitary welcome following the parade. Monrovia Unified Celebrates Class of 2020

Seniors from Monrovia High School and Canyon Oaks and Mountain Park High School received Class of 2020 yard signs as the first step in the process of celebrating this year’s graduating class. At Monrovia High School, teachers cheered and volunteers distributed the signs as seniors drove by to pick up the signs. Seniors are encouraged to share photos on social media with the hashtags #AllinThisTogether and #MUSDProud.

Clifton Middle School Named2020 School to Watch

Clifton Middle School has been recognized as a 2020 School to Watch for its academic excellence, responsiveness to the needs of students and commitment to helping every student achieve at a high level. The honor, conferred by the National Forum to Accelerate Middle Grades Reform network, is Clifton’s second designation as a School to Watch. Clifton was previously recognized in 2017, the same year it was named a California Gold Ribbon School.

Monrovia High School Ranked as Top High School by U.S. News and World Report

Monrovia High School has been ranked in the top 13 percent of schools in the nation by U.S. News and World Report, recognizing student achievement and college and career readiness programs. U.S. News evaluated more than 17,000 public high schools across the country and ranked them nationally and at the state level. Following methodology revamped in 2019, U.S. News used six ranking factors to measure academic quality, including college readiness, college curriculum, math and reading proficiency and performance, underserved student performance, and graduation rate. Monrovia High has introduced a number of innovative and award-winning instructional programs, emphasizing its commitment to rigorous and equitable curriculum that provides a pathway to success for every student.

Aware of the impact the extended dismissal has had on students and the community, Monrovia Unified surprised families during its Cruisin’ thru Monrovia parade. Monrovia Unified School District
Monrovia Unified School District is ensuring students receive daily nutrition through its Grab-and-Go meal distribution program, which provides free breakfast and lunch for children ages 18 and under. Meal distribution began on March 16 and is prepared by the District’s Food Services Department staff. The curbside meals can be picked up at the school nearest students’ residences. To date, Monrovia Unified has served more than 73,000 meals. The District plans to continue with the Grab-and-Go meal program until the end of the academic year.
