Nearby Pipe Rupture Causes 30-Foot Geyser

Traffic was not affected.

A pipe rupture at a construction site caused a 30- foot water geyser in Sierra Madre early today.

The break occurred in the 200 block of West Sierra Madre Boulevard about 1:45 a.m., said Sierra Madre police Sgt. Reuben Enriquez said.

Enriquez said the pipe appeared to be a 10-inch fire suppression pipe. The highly pressurized flow shot 30 feet in the air, Enriquez said.
