Overview:  This bakery and cafe in Old Town offers delicious sandwiches, salads, soups, and yes, cookies! Their welcoming atmosphere and good food continue to attract a steady stream of customers in the mood for tasty eats and homemade sweets. In addition to selling delicious cookies, . Several weeks ago, the shooting for the pilot of a show called "Iceland" occurred at their location.

Décor:  The counter and glass cases display a colorful array of cookies, which gives the interior a fun and cheerful feeling. Hanging from the left wall are numerous cookie cutters in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, along with other cookie baking supplies. offers both indoor and outdoor seating, with good views of Library Park across the street. On the patio there is also a whimsical mural of Planet Cookies and their other business, Vera’s Cakes, set against the backdrop of the beautiful San Gabriel Mountains.

Drinks:  In addition to sodas and bottled juices, Planet Cookies offers hot and iced coffee drinks, including lattes, mochas and shots of espresso, in the range of $1.05-$3.75. Blended Drinks ($3.25-$3.95) include Vanilla, Caramel, Mocha, White Chocolate, and Strawberry or Mango Smoothies.

Sandwiches:  Sandwiches come on your choice of ciabatta, whole wheat, sourdough or white bread. Grilled Chicken ($8.25) with lettuce, tomato, onion, mozzarella, and mayo and Tuna ($7.95) prepared with fresh celery, mayo, and onion and served with lettuce and mozzarella are very popular. Vegetarian offerings for $7.95 include the Capresio with fresh mozzarella, basil, tomato, and house dressing; Three Cheese with feta, swiss, mozzarella, cucumber, and sundried tomato; and a Falafel Wrap. Other sandwiches include Classic Smoked Turkey ($7.95), Pepper Beef ($8.25), and Ham & Cheese ($7.95).

Soups and Salads:  Soups in the range of $3.95-$6.95 vary daily and include Split Pea, Tomato Tortellini and Lentil. Salads in the range of $7.95-$8.95 include Chicken Salad with grilled chicken, mixed greens, tomatos, cucumbers, and carrots, Tuna Salad with white albacore, mixed greens, avocado, and cucumber, Greek Salad with romaine, tomato, cucumber, feta, and kalamata olives,  and California Salad with mixed greens, tomato, carrots, avocado, black olives, kidney beans, and house dressing. Soup and Salad ($7.95-$8.95) is also available.

Breakfast:  Breakfast offerings include the Bagel Sandwich ($3.95) with cream cheese and fresh thin tomatoes, Breakfast Bagel ($4.95) with one egg, cheese, and two slices of bacon, Breakfast Wrap ($5.95) with two eggs, cheese, potato and bacon, and The Healthy ($4.95) with whole wheat toast, boiled egg, and seasonal fruit.

Desserts:  Cookies are $2.75 each and flavors include Classic Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin, Double Chocolate Chip, White Chocolate, M&M, Peanut Butter, Chocolate Peanut Butter, and Chocolate Oatmeal. Other kinds of cookies and pastries may also be available, and specialty cakes may be ordered from Vera’s Cakes.
