Rudy's delicious food and friendly service entices Monrovians to return again and again.

Overview: This popular family-owned Mexican restaurant serves traditional favorites as well as in-house specialties. Don't miss Rudy’s Taco Bar at Monrovia’s first Cinco de Mayo Festival on Sunday, May 1st.
Décor: Outdoors, the roses of Rudy’s logo are painted on the windows next to patio tables with green chairs under a green awning. In the front room, the interior feels earthy, with brown tiles and comfortable wooden booths by sunny windows. Walls in the front room, large dining area, banquet room and cantina are decorated with Mexican art and murals of the owner’s home state, Zacatecas.
Drinks: Drink specials Monday through Thursday feature Margaritas, Martinis, and other cocktails in the range of $3.95-$4.50. They offer twelve beers on tap, and wine by the bottle, glass or carafe and sangria are also available. Beers range from $3.50-$4 and wines from $2.95-$4/glass, $11.50/carafe, and $13.75-$14.75/bottle. Their full service bar also features over 50 different tequilas. Appetizers: Some of their specialties include Guacamole ($4.25-$6.85), Shrimp Cocktail ($10.95), and Ceviche with marinated fish ($6.10) or shrimp ($7.15). Other appetizers include Nachos ($5.75) with chicken or beef ($7.30), and Quesadillas ($5.75) with chicken or beef ($7.30), fajitas ($8.50), seafood ($12.95) or carne asada & shrimp ($13.45), Flautas ($6.75), Taquitos ($5.40), and a Variety Plate with nachos, quesadilla, taquito, flauta, sour cream & guacamole ($8.35-$11.45).
Entrees: Sopes (soft tacos) in the range of $3.60 - $9.45, come with carnitas, carne asada, pork, fish, and chicken and rice and beans. Tostadas ($7.60-$8.95) come with pork, chicken, beef, and rice. Burritos (5.85-13.45) come with red or green sauce, and include beans and cheese, beef and bean with red sauce, pork & bean with green sauce, seafood (shrimp, crab, scallops and fish), chile rellenos, marinated pork, carne asada, steak and chicken.

Combination plates with a choice of Taco (chicken or beef), Enchilada (cheese, chicken or beef), Tamal or Chile Relleno, and rice and beans, range from $6.85 to $10.95. Enchiladas also include carne asada, chicken tenders and chorizo, shrimp and spinach, and Puebla-style Poblano chicken.
Specialties: The Monrovia ($14.50) comes with shrimp, crab, chicken tenders and avocado, topped with cheese and garnished with seasoned sour cream. Rudy’s Old Town ($18.70) comes with a pork medallion, a 4 oz chicken steak and a 4 oz rib eye steak, each topped with a mojo de ajo shrimp, and served with rice and a small salad. Nopalitos con Puerco ($11.25) come with diced nopal cactus and pork in a light, red chile sauce. Carne Asada Steak & Camarones al Mojo de Ajo ($17.25) comes with large shrimp sautéed in garlic & butter, and a rib eye steak.
For $12.45, you can have Carnitas, Chile Colorado beef in red sauce with onions & mushrooms, a Chimchanga of chicken, beef or pork with sour cream or guacamole, Beef Birria, which comes with beef chunks, slow cooked in oven with eleven spices and Chicken Mole (chicken in a hearty mole sauce, Puebla style); or Pipian (chicken in a pumpkin seed seed sauce.)
Some of their seafood dishes include Camarones Zacatecas ($14.50) which includes shrimp sautéed with onion, bell pepper, and salsa fresca, and Huachinango ($12.95), which comes with red snapper sautéed with green olives, celery, carrots, bay leaf and a splash of tomato juice. Camarones Mexicanos ($14.50) which includes shrimp simmered in olive oil and agave wine with onion, tomato, bell pepper and mushrooms. Other seafood dishes include Enchilada de Mariscos ($9.95-$12.65) filled with shrimp, crab, scallops, fish & mixed vegetables, topped with verde sauce & cheese, and served with sour cream, and Chile Relleno de Mariscos ($12.65) which includes a large pasilla chile stuffed with seafood and topped with cheese, avocado slices & special cream sauce.
Other specialities include Arroz Con Pollo ($12.45), Fajitas ($12.45-$14.50), Salmon Filet a la Plancha ($12.95), Beef, Chicken, Shrimp, or Salmon Skewers ($12.45-$14.50) and many more.
Soups, Sandwiches, Salads and Sides: A variety of Caldos (Soups) in the range of $2.50- $11.95 include pork, beef and vegetables, meatballs, seafood and vegetables, and menudo. Sandwiches include burgers and fries ($4.45-$4.75), and Tortas with Carne Asada ($7.95) and Carnitas ($7.45).
Dinner salads ($4.20) can also come with chicken tenders ($8.20), and seafood ($10.50). Other salads include Rosa’s lettuce, tomato & avocado with jack cheese ($6.35), and with steak strips ($9.35), and Taco Salad with chicken or beef and beans, sour cream & guacamole ($6.95) or chicken and beef fajitas ($9.30).
A La Carte dishes include Tamales with pork, jalapenos and cheese($3.65-$4.15), Enchiladas with beef, pork, chicken, cheese, chorizo, shrimp and spinach ($3.40-$6.95), Chile Rellenos ($3.65-$8.95), Tacos($3), and beans or rice ($2.35).
Desserts: Flan Custard ($3.60), Ice Cream ($2.25), Deep Fried Ice Cream ($3.65).
Service: Host seating seven days a week. There is often a wait in the evenings, especially on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and the Sunday Brunch Buffet is also very popular.
