Scenes from the Hot Rod Show in Monrovia

Words and pictures by Roy Nakano

The art of doing a great car show depends on many factors. It’s one thing to have great cars on display, but the venue plays a big part. For its 23rd Annual Hot Rod, Custom Car & Motorcycle Show, the Street Rods Forever Car Club chose one of the best venues around—Myrtle Avenue in Old Town Monrovia, California. Monrovia Patch covered the Street Rods Forever story (see Every Street Rod Tells a Story). Here are the scenes from the 23rd annual show.

The Street Rods Forever 23rd Annual Hot Rod, Custom Car & Motorcycle Show took place on Saturday, September 14th, 2013 along Myrtle Avenue in Historic Downtown Monrovia.  Five-time Olympic Medal Winner and Monrovia resident Kim Rhode served as this year’s Grand Marshall, and also showed off her prized 1965 AC Shelby 427 Cobra.  Old Town Monrovia’s businesses served as the perfect backdrop for the show.
