Newspaper Identifies Man Shot to Death in Monrovia
An official from the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner declined to confirm the name reported by a Tennessee newspaper on Monday.

The Memphis Commercial Appeal identified the last week, but a coroners official declined to confirm the name because his next of kin still hasn't been notified.
Citing "Los Angeles County medical examiners" as a source, the newspaper identified the deceased man on Monday as David Wesley Blair, 62, of Memphis, TN.
Los Angeles County Department of Coroner spokesman Ed Winter said Tuesday that his office has not confirmed the man's identity to anyone and will not until his next of kin is contacted.

Winter said a sheriff's official in Tennessee identified the man.
Blair was fatally shot by a man living at a home in the 200 block of North Mayflower Avenue in the early morning hours of Oct. 14. The shooter, who was never arrested, told sheriff's homicide investigators that he acted in self defense.

A homicide lieutenant said the shooter told investigators that he was in bed with his wife just after 5 a.m. Friday . The shooter then opened fire.
Blair was known around Memphis to frequent estate and yard sales, the Commercial Appeal reported. He moved in with the Monrovia family about two weeks before his death and was trying to start a business in California, investigators said.
