UPDATED: Verizon Network Back Up in Monrovia
Several residents have complained on social media that they are unable to make phone calls with their Verizon phones.
Update: (1:54 p.m.) Ken Muche, a spokesman for Verizon, issued the following statement Monday Afternoon: "Verizon has restored service to its 3G wireless network in the Pasadena area after a brief interruption of service this morning and is investigating the root cause. The company’s 4G LTE network was not affected."

The Verizon wireless network in Monrovia is down and the company does not know what the problem is or when it will be resolved, an employee said Monday.

"They don’t know what the issue is, they don’t know how long it's going to take," said Justin Ortiz, a sales representative at the licensed agent on Huntington Drive.
Monrovia residents took to Facebook Monday to report that they cannot complete calls with their cell phones because of the outage.

"No cell phone service in our area! Went to Verizon store and 20 people were there thinking something was wrong with their phones!," wrote local resident Troy Wilson on Facebook.
An employee at the store in Monrovia who did not want to be identified said he's heard from several residents that the network is down. He called Verizon and said they did not provide any reason for the outage.
"I called Verizon and they're really not saying anything," the employee said. "It's really frustrating."
A Verizon media relations representative said in an email that the company is looking into the issue.
