When his team lost a lot of members in 2010, Cody created flyers and canvassed his school for new players. "They say soccer is a gentlemen’s sport played by hooligans, and rugby is a hooligan’s sport played by gentlemen," Cody says. The team, which is led by coaches Alan Jackson and Roche Sanchez, a rugby coach at Azusa Pacific University, has about 15 members. Cody’s Monrovia recruits make up over a third of the team.
