Wind Advisory Issued For San Gabriel Mountains, Antelope Valley
Winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour with gusts of between 45 and 55 mph were reported in both areas.

LOS ANGELES, CA -- High winds lashed parts of the Southland Monday.
A wind advisory was scheduled to remain in effect until 3 a.m. Wednesday in the Los Angeles County portion of the San Gabriel Mountains and the Antelope Valley. Winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour with gusts of between 45 and 55 mph were reported in both areas.
The winds will make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles using Interstate 5 in the San Gabriels and the Antelope Valley (14) freeway in the Antelope Valley, according to an NWS statement.

Also in effect in Los Angeles County Monday -- until 10 p.m. -- is a high surf advisory. NWS forecasters said the surf would build to between 4 and 7 feet, persisting through late Monday evening before slowly diminishing.
In Orange County, a beach hazards statement, which is a notch less serious than a high surf advisory, will be in force through Monday evening, with forecasters expecting surf of 3 to 6 feet with occasional sets to 7 feet.

The surf will create risks of drowning, according to the NWS, which warned that sneaker waves can wash people off beaches and rocks and cause small boats near shore to capsize. Rip currents are also a danger, forecasters said, urging swimmers caught in rip currents to remain parallel to shore until able to break free.
The NWS forecast partly cloudy skies Monday and highs of 62 degrees Fahrenheit on Mount Wilson; 67 in Avalon; 68 at LAX; 72 in Long Beach; Palmdale and Lancaster; 73 in downtown L.A.; 75 in San Gabriel and Burbank; 76 in Pasadena; 77 in Saugus; and 78 in Woodland Hills.
Partly cloudy skies were also forecast in Orange County, along with highs of 65 in Laguna Beach and San Clemente; 66 in Newport Beach; 70 in Mission Viejo; 72 in Irvine; 73 in Anaheim; and 74 in Fullerton and Yorba Linda.
Temperatures will be a few degrees higher Tuesday.
