1. Water main break damages Monterey roadway, causes closures (ksbw.com) ā A water main break in Monterey on Sunday severely damaged the 500 block of Washington Street, forcing road closures and water shutoffs for nearby homes and businesses. City crews, Cal Am, and Monterey Peninsula Engineering are working on repairs after a sinkhole formed under the roadway, and drivers should expect continued closures while the cause is investigated.

SR156 West Castroville Boulevard Interchange (ca.gov) ā A major overhaul of the Highway 156/Castroville Boulevard intersection in northern Monterey County is set to begin in spring 2027, improving safety and traffic flow for residents and visitors heading to the Monterey Peninsula. The project will replace the current signalized intersection with a grade-separated interchange and roundabouts, add a new multi-use path, and ease congestion for local commuters and agricultural trucks. 3. 3 hikers airlifted to safety after getting lost in Big Sur wilderness (kansascity.com) ā Monterey County Sheriffās search-and-rescue crews helped airlift three lost hikers to safety after they became stranded in Limekiln State Park along the Big Sur coast Sunday night. Teams bushwhacked miles through overgrown terrain before a Navy helicopter hoisted the hikers out, and deputies are now urging local outdoor enthusiasts to stick to marked trails and carry reliable navigation tools. 4. Monterey County supervisors reject Flock Safety deal, order cameras to be removed (kingcityrustler.com) ā Monterey County supervisors have voted 3ā2 to end the Sheriffās Office agreement with Flock Safety, requiring 63 license plate reader cameras to be removed within 60 days. The move, driven by privacy and data concerns, will limit deputiesā access to regional investigative information and force the department to explore other technology and staffing options for covering the countyās vast unincorporated areas. 5. Will Hurricane Polo affect Monterey County coast? What forecasts say (thecalifornian.com) ā Monterey County residents along the coast should prepare for several days of higherāthanānormal tides, minor flooding, and stronger surf as Hurricane Poloās distant swells combine with El NiƱoāboosted tides around Monterey Bay. From front staff to vets, you know your pet is their primary concern and will help in anyway they can. (Nextdoor Skyline Forest) - I just had one of the best burgers I have ever ate and the hand made fries were excellent!!
