Foothills Relay For Life Set For May 11
Event helps to raise cancer awareness, celebrates survivorship.

Once a year, Clark Magnet High School becomes a place of remembrance, a place of compassion a place to stand up to cancer.
The 13th Annual Foothills Relay For Life, May 11-12, brings together members of the community and aims to raise awareness of cancer, how to avoid the disease, increase and celebrate survivorship and remember those who they lost to cancer.
Teams of community members gather to walk, jog or run laps during the relay and each team must have at least one member actively participating on the track at all times. The event runs 24 hours.
Participants can also purchase a luminaria as a tribute to a loved one who has survived cancer, or who has succumbed to the disease.
The event also raises funding for the American Cancer Society.
People can donate directly to a team of their choice, or to an individual member.
Last year, event organizers said 29 teams comprised of more than 500 members helped to contribute over $83,000 in the Foothills event.
The event begins at 9 a.m., May 11, at Clarke Magnet High School, 4747 New York Ave., La Crescenta and ends the following morning.
