Agoura Hills Glue Trap Ban Takes Effect Nov. 11
Glue traps used to catch rodents can also trap birds, lizards and other unintended wildlife.
AGOURA HILLS, CA — The sale and use of glue traps will be prohibited within Agoura Hills city limits beginning Nov. 11, with enforcement based on complaints starting Dec. 1, 2026.
The city announced the ban as part of an effort to protect animals from serious injury and prolonged suffering. While glue traps are commonly used to catch rodents and insects, they can also trap birds, lizards and other unintended wildlife.
City officials said they plan to share information through social media and other city platforms about alternative pest control methods and preventive steps residents and business owners can take to keep pests out.

Alternatives to glue traps include snap traps and live catch-and-release traps for rodents, according to a city fact sheet. For insects, alternatives include bait stations, enclosed traps, electric or "zapper" traps and vacuum removal.
Preventing infestations involves cleanliness and proper home maintenance, such as sealing cracks in walls and keeping food and trash out of reach of pests.
