American Legion to Host Memorial Day Ceremonies
There will be an 8 a.m. flag-raising at Veterans' Memorial Triangle and a 10 a.m. ceremony at the Moorpark Veterans' Memorial.

Great weather combined with a day off work screams for some outside fun, maybe a barbecue or a day at the park or beach. But when that day is Memorial Day, perhaps it calls for something more.
Memorial Day is a time to remember those who have passed, specifically to remember those who gave their lives while serving our country. It was originally called Decoration Day and, though sources differ about when and where it began, they seem to agree it started officially during the Civil War.
So definitely, have a good time and enjoy the day off, but maybe take a moment to remember those who are gone. Or, perhaps start your day by attending one of the Memorial Day services hosted by the local chapter of the American Legion, Post 502.
