American RadioShack teammates Levi Leipheimer, three-time Amgen Tour of California champion, and Chris Horner crossed the Stage 7 finish line in first and second place respectively. Though Horner finished in second place, he retains the overall lead.
This 75.8-mile stage of the Tour included a climb of more than 15,000 feet up Mt. Baldy after leaving the town of Claremont.
Stage eight, which passes through Moorpark on its way from Santa Clarita to Thousand Oaks, is an 82.3 mile ride and includes two big climbs, one at Balcom Canyon and one on the Norwegian Grade. The race begins at noon and organizers expect riders to roll through Moorpark at about 1 p.m.
