The Sky Procycling team retained the lead in the Amgen Tour of California bicycle race Tuesday, with team member Greg Henderson of New Zealand taking first place in stage three of the tour.
The race, which will make its way through Moorpark on Sunday, started Stage Three in Auburn, passed through gold country and ended in Modesto in what race organizers called the last of the sprint stages.
Stage Four, on Wednesday, will take riders from Livermore to San Jose. The ride is comparatively short at about 82 miles, but includes steep and windy roads, including one hill that’s 3.5 miles of ascent with a 10 percent average grade and 1,759 feet of climbing.
