• Bruce case exposes gaps on Animal Services Commission (thecamarilloacorn.com) — Moorpark City Councilmember Renee Delgado, who chairs Ventura County's Animal Services Commission, says members were never fully briefed on the controversial euthanizing of Bruce the dog, exposing long-standing communication gaps. With Moorpark among the cities that fund VCAS, she now plans to push bylaw and transparency reforms at the rescheduled Sept. 14 commission meeting in Ventura.
   

• City cracking down on fireworks (mpacorn.com) — Moorpark is moving toward tougher fireworks enforcement, including a potential host-liability ordinance that could hold property owners responsible when illegal fireworks are launched from their property. City leaders have formally responded to a Ventura County Civil Grand Jury report and expect to consider the new rules this fall, as agencies countywide grapple with fires, complaints and uneven enforcement.
