1. District 1 council candidates spar (mpacorn.com) — Moorpark residents in District 1 will choose between incumbent Councilmember Renee Delgado and challenger David Palos, who clashed over growth, housing, traffic, and economic development at a recent forum. Both emphasized preserving Moorpark's small-town feel while debating how to attract better jobs, manage state housing mandates, and prepare for disasters, giving local voters a clear contrast before November.

4. Santa Barbara High Football Opens Channel League Play with 38-24 Victory Over Moorpark (noozhawk.com) — Moorpark High's football team fell 38-24 to Santa Barbara in their Channel League opener, despite a strong second-half push that cut the lead to four. The Musketeers' offense produced long drives and big plays, and they'll look to rebound quickly when they host Rio Mesa next week in front of home fans in Moorpark.
5. Firefighter seriously injured in Simi Valley DUI crash (simivalleyacorn.com) — Moorpark-area CHP officers helped respond after a wrong-way driver on the 118 near Tapo Canyon Road triggered a chain of DUI incidents that seriously injured a Ventura County firefighter early Sept. 27.
