Assembly Member Returns From War This Week

A welcome home party is scheduled for April 4.

Assembly Member Jeff Gorell, who represents Moorpark as part of California's 37th Assembly District, is scheduled to return to the country from his tour of duty in Afghanistan this week.

Gorell has been serving as a Naval intelligence officer at Camp Leatherneck in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan since March of last year.

"He'll be back in the country, but not home yet," said Gorell field representative Adam Haverstock. "He will still have some military things to take care of."

Haverstock said a welcome home party scheduled for April 4 at California Lutheran University, where Gorell has taught as an adjunt professor of public policy, will probably be his first public appearance.

The party will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. at the school's Gilbert Sports and Athletic Center Arena, 60 W. Olsen Road in Thousand Oaks. Details are available here.
