Bike Race to Cause Street Closures

The Tour of California race is expected to come through town at around 1 p.m.

The nation's largest professional bike race, The Amgen Tour of California, will come through Moorpark Sunday on its way from the day's starting point in Santa Clarita to the race finish line in Thousand Oaks. The race will cause some city streets to be closed while it rolls through at around 1 p.m. and streets will be closed to traffic about 10 minutes before the racers arrive and remain closed for approximately 30 minutes.

Riders will travel south down Grimes Canyon Road, turn left onto Los Angeles Avenue and continue east to Tierra Rejada Road, at which point they'll head up the hill, continuingall the way to Moorpark Road, where they'll turn right/south to head toward Thousand Oaks.

The following is a summary of the street closures provided by the City of Moorpark:

  • Los Angeles Avenue from Grimes Canyon Road to the Tierra Rejada/Gabbert Road intersection. Hitch Boulevard, Montair Drive, Buttercreek Road, and Mira Sol Drive will be closed at Los Angeles Avenue.
  • Tierra Rejada Road southbound/eastbound from Los Angeles Avenue to Moorpark Road, including all intersections and driveways on the west and south side of Tierra Rejada Road, including Courtney Lane, Countrywood Drive, Mountain Meadows shopping center, Mountain Trail Street, Mountain Meadows Drive, Walnut Creek Road, Brookhurst Court, Pheasant Run Street, Hidden Pines Court, Southhampton Road, and Spring Road.  Westbound Tierra Rejada Road will remain open.
  • Moorpark Road south of Tierra Rejada Road.
