Blanket Drive and Mini-Powwow returns to Simi Valley Library
Redbird's annual benefit for the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation will be brought back to the Simi Valley Library on December 4, 2021

Redbird's longest continually running event, its annual Blanket Drive and Mini Powwow benefitting the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation of South Dakota, will be held from 11 AM to 3 PM at the Simi Valley Library.
The gathering will likely take place on the beautiful back veranda of the library, an expansive outdoor space that is normally quiet. Redbird hopes to make a little noise for a few hours on Saturday, and hopes library visitors will join them in celebrating Native American culture.
Everyone is welcome. The goal of the event is to gather new, warm blankets and monetary donations sufficient to ship those blankets to South Dakota.

The group will also accept new and like-new warm winter clothing such as ski outfits, and new, warm socks. If a few small to medium sized plush toys show up, they will get snuggled into the blankets and shipped too.
The gathering will be the 26th annual event for the non profit. Last year's event was held in front of Larsens' Restaurant in Simi Valley, and activities were strictly limited due to COVID. Still, the community came out to support the effort.
