Blanket Drive and Mini Powwow Seeks Help
Redbird's Blanket Drive at the Simi Valley Library was a wonderful success, but there's still blankets to ship to South Dakota

On Saturday, December 4, Redbird held its 26th annual Blanket Drive and Mini Powwow at the Simi Valley Library. People were eager to gather again, to sing, to dance, to see friends old and new, and to give to a good cause.
Redbird took home a big haul of new, warm, washable blankets and warm winter clothing to ship to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation of South Dakota. They also gathered enough monetary donations to cover the shipping of the first half of those goods.
The second batch - one old school Suburban filled to the rooftop was not big enough to hold everything - is being packed now, but the non profit association is looking for donations to cover the postage on this second shipment.
Even with discounted shipping through PayPal (same rates as Pirate Ship, if you wondered) the boxes are running $67.28 a piece. There are roughly another fifteen boxes left to ship.
Redbird hopes to inspire a few more wonderful people to donate the funds needed to get the last boxes on their way. They will be ready to ship by day's end Tuesday, December 7.
You can donate securely on Redbird's website with any form of plastic, or the old fashioned way, via check in the mail to Redbird, P.O. Box 702, Simi Valley, CA 93062.
