Got a hankering for a nutty, salty or even sweet snack. Well, you don't have to travel far. Just a few miles down East Los Angeles Avenue on the east side of Moorpark there is a hidden treasure of goodies.
The Somis Nut House can easily be overlooked by those driving by, though they've been around for over 50 years. The red building is home to this family owned and operated business.

Don't mistake the plain exterior and simple old fashioned interior fool you when it comes to quality. Somis Nut House is a favorite among the locals for a good reason.
Inside you'll find tables stacked full of a variety of nuts, dried fruits, seeds, trail mix and, my favorite, candy. There is even a section of sugar-free candy where I can get my son some sugar-free mini gummy bears. Plus they have a variety of nut butters, like cashew, almond and peanut-butter.

You can buy the bags of goodies individually or boxed up in a variety pack. They have prepackaged boxes and baskets available there or you can order directly online.
The Somis Nut House also carries locally made hot sauces, honey, popcorn and jerky.
Stop by the Somis Nut House and see for yourself why they are my favorite snack shop. They are located at 4475 East Los Angeles Avenue and open 8-5:30 on weekdays and 9:30-5:30 on weekends.
