SFR (Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource) Explained
This time, let's talk about the SFR certification, better know as a Short Sales & Foreclosure Resource.
Hi there, excuse the tardiness of my newest blog entry. This time, let's talk about the SFR certification, better know as a Short Sales & Foreclosure Resource.
Keep in mind, the last word in the certification is resource, not specialist. There is a difference. This course does not mean you are a specialist after getting this certification, that is done through time & experience on the job working short sales. But, a realtor is given a great start by attending this course, and given knowledge of where to go for resources and questions, which can be half the battle at times.
This class includes a one-day course along with accompanying materials and 50 question exam. Some of the topics covered in this course range from counseling both buyers & sellers to help them navigate the short sale & foreclosure market, how to provide lenders with an effective short sale package, as well as negotiating contracts for these types of properties.

Some of the qualities that one might recommend if you are hoping to short sale your property, or looking to purchase a distressed property, is to look for someone who has great follow up and follow through skills (this will come in handy when dealing with the bank(s), perserverance, persistance and, most importantly, someone you are comfortable working with. This should be said for all transactions, the process is always more pleasurable in any real estate transaction when surrounding yourself with people you trust and enjoy working with.
