Catch Moorpark's Tierra Rejada Golf Club on CBS Special

The television special will air Sunday at 11 a.m.

Leading the way into coverage of the final round of the the PGA Tour's Zurich Classic in New Orleans, a CBS special featuring Moorpark's will air at 11 a.m. Sunday.

The CBS special will focus on growing the game of golf and The Player's Course at Tierra Rejada will be the featured subject. As noted in a , The Players Course is a course within the "regular" Tierra Rejada course that’s shorter—the Players Course comes in at 5,600 yards, approximately 500 yards less than the shortest championship tees—and easier than the standard courses.

With strategically placed new white tee boxes, wide landing areas and a liberal set of local rules that speed up the game and make it more fun, the 5,600-yard ā€œPlayers Courseā€ layout is essentially a shortened version of the challenging Bob Cupp design.

The club is hoping the shorter course will not only attract new players, but maybe spur people who have left the game to give it another try. According to the National Golf Foundation, the game of golf gained 3.6 million new players last year but lost about 4.6 million, for a net loss of about 1 million golfers.

Ted Kruger, developer and co-owner of the golf club said he was thrilled the Tierra Rejada was selected to be featured on the show.

ā€œWe hope golf fans across the country tune in for a glimpse of what we have done at Tierra Rejada to make the game more fun," Kruger said. "Being featured in the show on CBS certainly provides validation."
