Channel Islands HS Students Are Creating a Bee-Positive Garden

The Bee Positive Club at Channel Islands High School is working hard to spruce up the school and create native gardens around campus to attract native bees.

The club will be planting lots of native species in early December including yarrow, white, purple and hummingbird sages; California buckwheat, wild rye and California sunflowers. Mike Glenn of the Fish and Wildlife Services has been instrumental in helping students plan and carry out its garden mission—to establish an environment for native bee populations.

Agromin mulch is being distributed across two garden spaces at the entrance to the campus.

Agromin is looking forward to seeing the new garden—and plenty of bees!
