Chris Horner Wins Amgen Tour Of California

HTC-Highland team member Matthew Goss of Australia won stage seven of the race.

Australian Matthew Goss of the HTC-Highroad team won the final stage of the Amgen Tour of California Sunday, but it was Chris Horner, with an overall time of 23 hours, 46 minutes and 41 seconds, who won the race.

Horner's RadioShack teammate Levi Leipheimer, who's won the race three times, took second and Thomas Danielson of Team Garmin-Cervelo finish third.

"Team RadioShack came in with a great squad this year.  We had some great help, and the crowds throughout the race have just been amazing,” said Horner, who's competed each of the race's six years.

The race got off to a rocky start, with the first stage having to be cancelled due to severe weather conditions Sunday but went on without a hitch and traveled from Nevada City to Southern California through the week.

Stage seven, the final stage of the tour wound through Moorpark after starting in Santa Clarita, and it ended in Thousand Oaks.
