City Council to Consider Budget for Redevelopment Agency Successor
The proposed budget will be $250,000, the minimum allowed by state law.

When the Moorpark City Council meets tonight, it will discuss the successor agency the city is establishing to take the place of the redevelopment agency. It will consider city representatives to an oversight board that will review the actions of redevelopment successor agencies and will consider adopting an administrative budget for the successor agency.
When the state eliminated cities' redevelopment agencies under trailer bills the Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law when adopting the 2011-2012 fiscal year budget, one of the bills, ABX1 26, required any successor agency to the redevelopment agencies pay money to an oversight board every six months.
According to a staff report by city redevelopment manager David Moe, "the amount permitted for administrative expenses shall not be less than $250,000," and that is the city staff's reccommendation for the budget for the successor agency.

The staff is also recommending Mayor Janice Parvin appoint herself and Assistant City Manager Hugh Riley to the oversight committee and that the city council appoint administrative secretary and former redevelopment agency employee Kathy Priestley to the committee.
The council will also consider a zoning clearance to modify the color on a building on Priceton Avenue when it meets at 7 p.m. tonight at City Hall, 799 Moorpark Ave.
