(VENTURA, Calif.) — CoLAB Ventura County announced that Bill Watkins, executive director of California Lutheran University’s Center for Economic Research and Forecasting (CERF), will be the keynote speaker at CoLAB’s annual meeting on October 17.

Watkins is a respected economic forecaster
who looks at population trends, regulations, workforce issues and other factors
that determine economic health. He has focused on four key issues that have impacted county businesses struggling to recover from the recession: delay,
uncertainty, regulation and taxes. Watkins is known for his provocative views
on the economy.
Watkins has led CLU’s CERF since 2009. Previously, he was executive director of the University of
California, Santa Barbara, Economic Forecast
Project, and served as an economist for the
Federal Reserve Board of Governors
in Washington, D.C.
He has a PhD in economics from
UCSB.
