Deadlines for Youth Sports Registration Draw Near

Some of Moorpark's youth sports organizations are now accepting registration, but won't be for much longer. Deadlines for baseball, softball and track and field team signups are drawing near.

Moorpark Striders, which is celebrating its 39th year, offers track and field fun for children up to age 15. Registration is $100 for the first child in a family and $90 for each additional child. Registration fees include conference membership, ribbons, medals, trophies, a uniform, pictures, training equipment and facilities usage. As well, Each family must either work 3 volunteer shifts or pay $75 (the requirement is per family, not per athlete). For more information or to register, visit the Striders website. Moorpark Girls Softball registration is closing Tuesday. The league has teams for ages 8 and under up to 14 and under. Registration is $140 for the first player and $120 for the second player in a family. T-ball registration is $100. Register online on the Girls Softball website.

Moorpark Little League, now in its 54th year, will have in-person walk up registration from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Pizza N' More in the Vons shopping center and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Round Table Pizza in the Ralph's Shopping Center. Only checks and cash will be accepted for walk-up registration. Online registration is also available for all credit card purchases on the Moorpark Little League website. Sign up fees are $250 and include a 20 game regular season (for Farm Division and higher), a hat, a jersey and a picture packet. T-ball registration is $150. The registration deadline is Jan. 19.
