Boys & Girls Club of Moorpark 25th Anniversary Recognition Dinner

The Boys & Girls Club of Moorpark will hold a 25th Anniversary Recognition Dinner on Friday, December 10, 2010 at 6 p.m. at the Moorpark Country Club. The event will celebrate 25 years of making a difference in the lives of the children of Moorpark, and will recognize some of the individuals and organizations who have helped make the Club what it is today.

One of the honorees of the evening will be the Rotary Club of Moorpark, whose project 25 years ago initially got the Club chartered and open for business. That humble beginning has evolved to a Club that serves about 2,000 kids each year.

In the spirit of the holidays, dinner attendees are invited to participate in a toy drive. Wrapped toys will be distributed to Moorpark children in need by the Kiwanis Club at its annual Breakfast with Santa event.

The Boys & Girls Club plays a critically important role for children in the Moorpark area. At the forefront of youth development, the Club works with young people from all social, economic and family circumstances to provide a positive, safe alternative to going home with no adult supervision or structured activities. The Club serves about 250 kids per day at its main site on Casey Road, as well as at three school on-site locations at Campus Canyon Elementary, Chaparral Middle School and Mesa Verde Middle School.  Programs and activities fall under five core areas: Character & Youth Development, Education & Career Development, Health & Life Skills, the Arts, and Sports, Fitness & Recreation.
