Family Fun Will Be Easy to Find This Fall

After the recent heat wave, autumn’s cooler weather is refreshing and welcomed. Fall is the beginning of the holiday season, and it ushers in plenty of spooky and seasonal family fun along with it around town.  

Here are some autumn activities Moorpark has in store this season.

Moorpark Country Days kicks off the season on Oct. 1 in Downtown Moorpark on Historic High Street. Watch the annual parade, and then stay for an old-fashioned street fair. For more information, call the Country Days hotline (805) 529-0322 or visit the Country Days website.

Check out hot rods and classics at the Roam’n Relics Annual Car Show Sunday Oct. 9 on High Street from 7a.m.to 3 p.m.

Underwood Family Farms 14^th Annual Harvest Festival takes place Oct. 1-31. The festival runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Admission is $12 per person on weekends and $3 per person during the week. Children younger than two are free, and parking is free. Admission on the weekends includes tractor rides, a corn maze, farm animals, children's play area, access to the pumpkin patch and live entertainment. The farm is at 3370 Sunset Valley Rd. The Arroyo Vista Recreation Center will have its annual Halloween Party and Trick-or-Treat Village on Oct. 29 from 4 to 7 p.m. Children can collect candy, play carnival games, make creepy crafts and participate in a costume parade at this annual event. Wristband prices begin at $5. There are also other fall and Halloween-related classes for children offered by the Arroyo Vista Recreation Center. America's Teaching Zoo at Moorpark College will have its annual Boo At the Zoo event Oct. 30 and 31 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. There are animal shows every hour on the hour, trick- or-treating with the animals, costume parade, games and activities, raffles and prizes and more. This is also a great way to support this wonderful animal training program. Admission is $5 for adults and $4 for children and seniors. The college is at 7075 Campus Rd. After the pumpkins have all been chosen and carved, the pumpkin patch transforms into a Civil War encampment. The Rotary Club of Moorpark will present its annual Blue & The Gray Civil War Battles reenactment at Tierra Rejada Ranch Nov. 12 and 13. This may be too dramatic for smaller children, but a great event for older children who are learning about the Civil War. It is the largest Civil War event in Southern California. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for students. Children 5 and younger are free. If you buy your tickets online at www.MoorparkRotary.com, you can receive $2 off admission.
