Chronic venous disease affects 40 million Americans.

The Simi Valley Family YMCA and the Center for Vein Wellness are holding a free workshop and screening for chronic venous disorder (varicose veins, spider veins, leg swelling and leg pain). The workshop is Thursday, October 5 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Simi Valley Y (3200 Cochran St.).
Chronic venous disease affects 40 million Americans. Chronic venous disease occurs when veins become diseased or abnormal and blood flow is reduced. Dr. Haimesh Shah from the Center for Vein Wellness will discuss how to determine if leg pain, cramping and achiness can be caused by the disease.
Compression socks can improve circulation but Dr. Shah will discuss other options for more severe cases.
