Kids' Enrichment Fund Campaign Underway at CASA of Ventura County

The Kids’ Enrichment Fund Campaign is underway at Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Ventura County. The Fund provides gift cards to local foster children at the holidays, as well as finances special enrichment opportunities for them, such as art or music lessons, visiting a museum, or attending a play.
During the holidays and other special occasions, CASA provides each foster child with a gift card not only to demonstrate that someone cares, but to give them the opportunity to buy something for themselves or someone they care about. “Many of us cannot imagine a holiday season, birthday, graduation or other special occasion without the joys of giving and receiving gifts or acknowledgements, but for many foster children, this is their only opportunity to participate in something that many of us take for granted,” says CASA’s Executive Director Teresa Romney. One hundred percent of all donations go directly to the Kids’ Enrichment Fund. It is CASA’s goal to raise $10,000 for the restricted fund this holiday season.
CASA of Ventura County recruits, screens, trains, supervises and supports volunteers who become sworn officers of the Court and advocate for children in the foster care system. The Volunteer Advocate is the person who can be counted on to respond to a child’s most basic needs for guidance, comfort, and advocacy in times of extreme uncertainty. Many of the children change placements multiple times, which may involve rotating social workers, schools, and neighborhoods. The Volunteer Advocate is often the one consistent adult in the child’s life.
