LightGabler Free Seminar: Hiring From Competitors Without Getting Sued and Protecting Yourself From Defecting Employees
The seminar will be held Tuesday, February 28 in Simi Valley.
Employment law firm LightGabler is presenting a free employment law seminar, “Keep Your Friends Close and Your Enemies Closer: Hiring From Competitors Without Getting Sued and Protecting Yourself From Defecting Employees.” The seminar will be held Tuesday, February 28 in Simi Valley.
Companies have many good reasons to hire from the competition. These employees are familiar with the industry and require minimal training, but every new employer-employee relationship comes with baggage. When hiring from competitors, the new hire may have ongoing obligations to the old company--obligations that can land the new employer in litigation if precautions are not taken. On the other side, employers can use basic strategies to strengthen their legal protections against employees who defect to the competition.
LightGabler intellectual property attorney Glenn J. Dickinson will discuss simple precautions to take when bringing in a competitor's former employee and trade secrets. In addition, he will explain how to avoid liability for misappropriation, the type of documentation to present to the new hire, the steps to take to minimize the damage from departing employees and what to say and do when an employee is leaving for a competitor.
