Meet An “Amazing” Who Re-invents Herself With Joy
Marilyn Kagan, 88, is no stranger to re-inventing herself.

Marilyn Kagan, at 88, is no stranger to re-inventing herself. She went from being a cartographer for the US Army Map Service when training to be a teacher didn’t suit her, to studying for her architectural degree at Philadelphia’s Drexel University, to working for the City of Philadelphia designing sewers. She finally landed the job she coveted--designing structures for the Water Department, everything from pumping stations, to construction worker locker rooms, to disabled-access bathrooms.
Once retired, Marilyn turned her considerable design talents to making and selling an innovative jewelry line, known as “The Busy Beader,” in her hometown of Providence, Rhode Island. That, along with being an active member of two book clubs, attending plays and concerts and playing a wicked game of Super-Scrabble with her friends – she's busy, indeed!
