Meet an “Amazing” Who Swims For The Joy & Energy
Joan Campbell, at 87, swim competitively.

Joan Campbell, at 87, is a competitive swimmer with US Masters Swimming. Since she turned 80, she has placed in the top 10 competitors in – wait for it – 307 events. Considering Joan only took up swimming seriously at 59, that’s quite something. To boot, she holds world records in her age group in the 200 and 800 meter short course relay with her relay teammates. Joan competes about once a month, because – as she puts it - having that goal helps her stay focused and motivated.
A retired insurance company executive, Joan loves the energy swimming gives her, enough to keep up easily with her 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
