Meet An “Amazing” Who Wows Us With Stage & Screen Performances

Olympia Dukakis, at 87, reprises her stellar role as Anna Madrigal in the 2019 Netflix update of "Tales of The City." Given Olympia’s long and illustrious acting career (an Academy Award, a trio of Emmy nominations, a Golden Globe), this is probably no surprise, but did you know that Olympia started off her career majoring in physical therapy, in which she earned a B.A., and worked as a physical therapist when polio was rampant in the U.S.?

It’s only later that Olympia went back to college and received her Master of Fine Arts. To boot, although Olympia’s stage work was well known and respected, it’s only when she played Cher’s character’s mother at age 56 (!) in "Moonstruck" that she became a household name. Which just goes to show - once again - that age really is nothing but a number .
