(CBS News)

Wayne Shorter, at 86, is still performing live, composing, and playing the tenor saxophone like none other. Music has been a part of his life since he was a youngster at the Newark Arts High School. Considered one of the greatest living improvisers and small group jazz composers, his latest release, Emanon (2018), includes both Wayne’s quartet on their own, live, and a studio session with the 34-piece Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. The album culled rave reviews by both fans and critics, who all praised Wayne’s dynamic tenor sax.

In addition to his Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014, Wayne received a Kennedy Center Honor Award in 2018. May he play on and on.
