Ian McKellen, at 80, continues his astonishing career with yet another feature film, "The Good Liar."

(BBC America)

Ian McKellen, at 80, continues his astonishing career with yet another feature film, “The Good Liar,” co-starring Helen Mirren. Having received every major theatrical award in the UK, Ian is regarded as a British cultural icon. He was named a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1979 and knighted in 1991 for services to the performing arts. His performances in theatre, film and television are far too numerous to list. Suffice it to say the one dear to many of our hearts is his “Gandalf” in “Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” trilogies. Ian’s charitable contributions include serving as an honorary board member for the New York and Washington, DC-based organization “Only Make Believe,” which creates and performs interactive plays in children's hospitals and care facilities, and supporting various theatres. All this started for Ian at age 3, when his parents took him to see “Peter Pan”!
