Meet An “Amazing” Whose Writing Sparkles With Wit & Intelligence

Judith is a great believer in the virtues of laughter and gratitude.

Judith Viorst, at 88, has lost none of the wit and humor that propelled her children’s books, such as "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day," to super-best-seller status. Her latest book is entitled "Nearing 90 and Other Comedies of Late Life." Although obviously not for children, it does reflect her upbeat, optimistic-with-a-twist take on life. Judith is a great believer in the virtues of laughter and gratitude, both of which she feels helps us take on the challenges of the different decades of our lives.

In 2011, at 80, she received the Foremother Award for Lifetime Achievement from the National Research Center for Women & Families, which seeks to promote the health and safety of women, children and families.
