Meet A Heartwarming Group Of “Amazing" Veterans

Today is the historic 75th Anniversary of the WWII Battle of the Bulge.

It's been a little over a year since my Malibu home was destroyed in the Woolsey Fire. An article about my recovery appeared in the Camarillo Acorn (http://bit.ly/38tYOgJ) on November 29. One of the irreplaceable treasures lost was the American Flag my family was given at the funeral of my beloved father, a World War II Veteran.

Inspired by the Acorn story, the Vietnam Veterans of Ventura County (vvvc.org) reached out and presented me with a new flag during a special ceremony. The members of this organization -- Veterans from wars and conflicts reaching back to WWII, Korea and Vietnam to present day Afghanistan -- many of them seniors, are all Amazings, all to be honored.

They understood what the loss of that flag meant to me, and were pleased to replace it. The ceremony, held with a dozen Veterans present, with flags and a bugler playing “Taps,” was beautiful. I’m still crying. I feel so very privileged to have been the recipient of so much kindness,
generosity and caring. Thank you, Amazing Veterans all!
