Arts Center to Screen Kevin Spacey Documentary 'Shakespeare High'

The story of unlikely drama students will be shown for free as part of the city's arts festival.

Shakespeare High, an award-winning, feature-length film by Kevin Spacey, will be part of the Moorpark Arts Festival.

The movie tells the story of group of teenagers who, despite expectations and the odds, become involved with their high school drama program and become determined to succeed at one of the most prestigious Shakespeare festivals in the country.

Well known actors—including Kevin Spacey, Val Kilmer and Richard Dreyfus, all three alumni of the annual Drama Teachers Association of Southern California Shakespeare Competition—provide commentary to the stories of Tosh and Taco, sophomores from East LA and former gang members; Nicole, whose family lives below the poverty line in the isolated, low-income desert community of Hesperia; Tommy, an energetic and spry redhead whose parents were former skin-heads before his dad left the family, and twin brothers Galvin and Melvin, who moved in with their aunt and uncle after their father murdered their mother following a spiteful divorce.
