Moorpark Cal Poly Student Places in HR Games

The competition is part of the Society for Human Resource Management student conference.

Michael Grimaud of Moorpark recently joined Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo schoolmates in an human resources case-solving competion at the Society for Human Resource Management Pacific West Regional Student Conference.

The Cal Poly team, which also included Nicole Shane of Irvine and Veronica Kopp of San Ramon, went head to head in the final round of competion against the University of Nevada, Reno and came away with a second place win, for which the trio won a plaque and $2,000 to help with their educational goals. A total of 10 teams competed in the competition, dubbed "The HR Games," which this year took place at Pepperdine University in Malibu.

According to the SHRM blog site, "the Case Study-Solving Competition is a high-energy, interactive program enabling participating students to showcase and apply their HR knowledge to real-life business situations."

Grumaud is a senior at Cal Poly's Orfalea College of Business and serves as an office for the school's Human Research Management Association.
