The City of Moorpark is excited to announce the June 17 kickoff of its public engagement initiative, aimed at collecting meaningful community input that will be used to inform the General Plan Update. With the launch of the project website (www.MoorparkGeneralPlan.com), the first community survey, and an interactive online quiz, the City of Moorpark is embarking on the critical first steps in updating its General Plan – the community’s roadmap for the future.

In November 2019, the City of Moorpark began the process of selecting a consultant to lead an update of the City’s General Plan, which has not been comprehensively updated since it was originally adopted in 1986. Many of the General Plan elements are more than 20 years old and need to be revised to reflect the aspirations of our community today and for the City to address contemporary challenges such as housing, transportation, and the environment. The primary goal of updating the General Plan is to ensure that it reflects the values of the existing community, identifies the community’s vision for the City in the future, and provides a roadmap to achieve that vision. By updating the General Plan, Moorpark seeks to provide transparent and efficient city services that address the needs of our community.

The General Plan Update will include robust community engagement ranging from online engagement activities to surveys and in-person interactive workshops. Visioning exercises will focus on identifying community attributes, values, and assets that will be used to guide the development of alternatives for how Moorpark will look and grow in the future. The community’s vision will help inform needs related to housing, recreation, transportation, economic development, environment, public safety, and more.
