The Moorpark 4.0 Men's USTA tennis team won the Southern California Championships Sunday at The Indian Wells Tennis Gardens. Playing four matches in two days, the team, which represented the Ventura County district, went 11 and 1 during the season and was undefeated at the championships, beating the defending national champions, Orange County. Team members are Moorpark residents Eric Giffin and Don Mathews in the number one spot and Mike Brown and Scott Adams in the second spot. The tournament had four flights with four teams in each flight from around Southern California. Highlights included a champion-round deciding third-set tiebreak on center court won by Giffin and Mathews.
